Arsenal Slaughters Burgenland's Select XI 10-2

10-2. Umm... Okay. Wow. Where do I start? You know what? I'm not going to do a full-match report, the final score tells the story. But there are a couple of things that I'd like to point out.
First of all, Jack Wilshere. I just love this kid. He's only sixteen years old but he's fast, heavily talented, and smart. He scored his first two goals under the Arsenal shirt yesterday, and picked up three assists. All he needs to do is build a little more strength and I have no doubt that he'll make the first-team in two years time.
Nicklas Bendtner scored four goals in this rout but took a while to get into the game. He also seemed a bit nonchalant at times. Vela, on the other hand, was a little more quiet (three goals), but showed great composure in front of the net, slotting the ball between the keeper's legs on a no-angle shot for his first goal.
The Gunners scored their first goal at the 53rd second of play, their first attack. It was 7-0 at half-time. It could've been more than 10-0 at half-time if it wasn't for the saves the opposing goalkeeper actually made. If their opposition is the Austrian's province best players, then you have to wonder what the scoreline would be against one of the clubs. Despite their domination, Arsenal still have some problems to solve. Their crosses are still awful (Wilshere seemed to be the only player who could make decent crosses), and so are their corners, yet their ground passing is great. This is a bit perplexing. Furthermore, Burgenland's two consolation goals should never have happened, both were the results of defensive mistake. On the first, Gavin Hoyte missed his clearance, leaving the ball to Junuz Foric who fired it past Vito Mannone at the 72rd minute. On the second, bad defensive positioning sent Alexander Martna through the middle on a one-on-one against Mannone. On that goal, Sagna and Hoyte broke the first rule of defense – never give up the middle. Martna simply passed between the defenders to give his team a second goal at the 89th minute.
Tomorrow, the Gunners will face VFB Stuttgart, Jens Lehmann's new club. I hope the German club will provide a much more tougher opposition that will really test the English club's young players.
Arsenal's line-up: Manuel Almunia (Vito Mannone, 45th), Justin Hoyte, Gavin Hoyte, Gaël Clichy (Mark Randall, 45th), Bacary Sagna, Armand Traoré (Henri Lansbury, 40th), Denilson (Theo Walcott, 45th), Jack Wilshere, Aaron Ramsey, Carlos Vela, Nicklas Bendtner (Jay Simpson, 45th),
