EPL Week 2 Results & Fantasy News
August 21st 2009 05:21
The big surprise this week was Burnley getting the win over Manchester United at Turf Moor. As a matter of fact, all three promoted clubs put on a good show. As expected, Liverpool bounced back from their poor performance on Sunday by putting on a show against Stoke City. Tottenham's striking power is looking dangerous as they severely trounced Hull City to the score of 5-1. The full results follow.
Fantasy news
Since this was only a six-fixture week, my squads took a big hit due to my inability to plan long-term. I had probably 6 or 7 players out of 15 playing this week. Carlo Ancelotti's policy of rotation has me thinking about dropping Carvalho and Mikel from my squads but it will be hard to find players of the same quality at the same price (got them pretty cheap since Carvalho hadn't played much last season and Mikel isn't as impressive as Essien). Drogba and Rooney both picked up yellow cards while all my defenders conceded goals. Let's not even talk about my midfield. Truly poor thinking on my part. Hopefully, some good stuff will happen this weekend.
Sunderland – Chelsea: 1-3 (Read my recap HERE)
Wigan Athletic – Wolverhampton Wolves: 0-1
Birmingham City – Portsmouth: 1-0
Burnley – Manchester United: 1-0 (Read my recap HERE)
Hull City – Tottenham Hotspur: 1-5
Liverpool – Stoke City: 4-0
