EPL Week 3 Results & Fantasy News
August 25th 2009 04:15
Lots of stuff going on this week in the Premiership. Arsenal and Tottenham are continuing their quest to the top with their third (second in Arsenal's case) win of the season. Chelsea is slowly improving as Ballack tries to force Ancelotti's hand to start him every game. Manchester United exploded offensively pumping five goals past goalkeeper Kirkland. And in the surprise category, Burnley is seemingly set on putting wrenches in everyone's plans. After stunning Manchester United with a 1-0 win, they played the same trick to Everton on Sunday. As for Liverpool they canceled an excellent mid-week performance with another heart wrenching defeat, this time against Aston Villa. The full results follow.
Fantasy News
After my mid-week debacle, I completely switched up my midfield and some defenders. I intend to keep them for the next four weeks just to see how my long-term planning goes. It hasn't started well since I let go of both Ashley Young and Antonio Valencia to get Steven Gerrard. As the results show, leaving things as is would've perhaps been better. Still, Drogba and Rooney's performances have convinced me that – barring injury - I'm set in attack. So, I just have to find the perfect blend of midfielders and defenders (in other words, find some defenders who won't concede so I can get more that their “playing” points every week) to take my squad to another level.
Arsenal – Portsmouth: 4-1
Birmingham – Stoke City: 0-0
Hull City – Bolton Wanderers: 1-0
Manchester City – Wolverhampton Wolves: 1-0
Sunderland – Blackburn Rovers: 2-1
Wigan Athletic – Manchester United: 0-5 (Read my recap HERE)
West Ham United – Tottenham Hotspur: 1-2
Burnley – Everton: 1-0
Fulham – Chelsea: 0-2 (Read my recap HERE)
Liverpool – Aston Villa: 1-3 (Read my recap HERE)
