Final Score (1st leg): Man Utd 1 – 0 Chelsea
Man Utd scored through in-form Rooney’s goal. Giggs came to the end of the box and gave Rooney a low cross and Rooney along with the help of cross-bar guided the ball to the back of the net! Every Chelsea fan around the world hoped that Torres might score his opener for the club but he was denied twice by the Red Devils’ legend keeper. Man Utd showed up a good performance and there was no doubt about their victory as they consistently kept attacking the Blues. Although sometimes it was the Blues who got the chance but they were unable to convert those chances into the goals! Last 10-15 minutes was mostly controlled by Chelsea leading to constant series of attacks, but they all went in vain.
Man Utd will go to 2nd leg with an important away goal which will be very helpful for them to get them to the next round. Secondly 2nd leg will be at Old Trafford, so Chelsea will be in a lot of pressure there .
Chelsea’s season becomes worse as this competition in their only hope, so they need to tie the knots and get back to the game for their own good!

UEFA announced the draws for the Champions League quarter-finals today and most debatable match of these fixtures will be off course of Chelsea vs Man Utd! It will be the rematch of Champions League final in Moscow three years ago where Man Utd defeated Chelsea in penalties! Chelsea have never had the European glory and the closest they came was that final where Man Utd clinched the win due to the very last penalty where Terry slipped and was unsuccessful to convert it into goal and it cost Chelsea their first ever UEFA Cup! So this time around they will definitely look to avenge Man Utd for that! But given the current run of the both clubs in this season, Chelsea will have to increase their form and really need to turn the tables cuz Man Utd is in terrific form right now!
Meanwhile, spurs are handed over the nine-time UEFA winners, Madrid, for the quarter-final! It will be a very hard job for them through them and given the current level of Madrid, Redknapp really need to apply his tactic correct and wise and beat Mourinho's Lads! Real Madrid have passed to quarter-final after around six years and this time they want to go all the way to the final!
Barcelona and Inter are give comparatively the easier teams and they really should go on to next round! Barcelona will play against Shaktar. This will be an easy task for the Catalans. But Shaktar really enjoyed this competition and they have made the best out of it as they have already reached the quarter finals! But i think that this will be the maximum, because Barca is playing a terrific game and they are very hard to beat...having said that, its soccer and setbacks happen here every time!
Inter will play against Schalke, both teams have given Bayer hard time this season, as Schalke dumped Bayern out of German cup, and Inter threw them out of the UEFA Cup! And now they come face to face to fight with each other for the place in the semis! Inter obviously having an upper hand, they are a far better team than Schalke so they should go through to the next round!

Manchester United faltered in a big way this week as they were crushed by Fulham on Saturday while Chelsea drew against West Ham United. It was draws galore last weekend in the Premiership as five games ended in draws. Manchester United missed the opportunity to catch up with Chelsea after the Blues were held to a 3-3 draw as United was defeated by Aston Villa. Arsenal jumped back in the title race by beating Liverpool at Anfield and at this point you have to wonder how much longer Benitez will stay in charge of the sinking club. Tottenham also lost at home to promoted-side Wolves. All in all, not a good weekend for the big guns who will try to make up for it in midweek.

So much for Chelsea being invincible... City's win puts Manchester United two points behind Chelsea as the Red Devils stomped over West Ham United. Tottenham missed the opportunity to pass Arsenal as they drew 2-2 against Everton with Defoe missed a penalty in the final minutes of the game. At the beginning of the season, many pundits predicted a three-way fight between Manchester United, Chelsea and Liverpool for the title while Arsenal would slip out of the "Big Four." Well after eleven games, it's Liverpool who find themselves on the outside looking in due to a string of irregular performances. After an interesting round of Champions League games midweek, the big talk last weekend was the meeting between a struggling Liverpool and Manchester United.
